2010 - The Year of The Black Belt

Yeah, I waited a few days before doing this "new year" post. I was on vacation and then I had to catch up on work because it never really stops even when you're on vacation.

If all goes according to plan, my daughter and I will each have our black belts by Thanksgiving. It's seems like a long time from now but I know the year will go by very fast. It's going to be a lot more work as I previously mentioned.

I've gotten a lot more clarification on what our "requirements" are for the test. I'm a software developer by trade and I basically revolve my whole work life around getting my daily tasks "defined" to a level of detail that I know exactly what I'm going to be doing.

The requirements are a whole spreadsheet of repetitions of everything we've learned, a lot of class time, and some physical fitness training. The physical fitness requirements are quite daunting including having to run 16 miles (not all at once) before the next test. I hate running more than any other exercise.

Starting this week, my daughter and I have to attend class 3 times a week versus the usual 2. 2 of the classes are going to be pure curriculum for the test. Having to know everything we've learned all at once is going to be the most daunting part of this process to me.

With all that training you might as well get into Parkour in RL!
